On March 16, Mr. Iain Watt, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) of The University of Western Australia (UWA) visited Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW). Prof. Chen Guanjun, Vice President of SDUW met with the guest. Relevant staff from International Office and School of Business also attended the meeting.
During the meeting with Mr. Watt, Prof. Chen reviewed the cooperation and exchange between the two universities, and pointed out that SDUW has been actively promoting international education programs while establishing sound partnerships with UWA. Now that SDUW’s students have successfully graduated from the Sino-Australia International Class, he expressed his wish that SDUW could send more outstanding SDUW’s students to attend UWA for study through joint efforts. Prof. Chen also welcomed Ms. Dawn Freshwater, new UWA Vice Chancellor to visit SDUW at an appropriate time. Mr. Watt spoke highly of the performance of SDUW’s students as well as the education quality of SDUW. He said that UWA would encourage more SDUW’s students to study at UWA by means of offering scholarships and internship opportunities. Meanwhile, the two parties exchanged opinions regarding the promotion and admission of relevant programs, as well as the graduation ceremony.
It is reported that SDUW launched the 2+2 program in finance and accounting with UWA in 2012, and students of this program are enrolled in the Sino-Australia International Class. The jointly-running undergraduate program in finance was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2015. Currently, 64 students are studying at UWA and have achieved excellent academic performances.
