UWA Delegation Visits SDUW

On April 11th, a delegation led by Mr. Iain Watt, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), and Prof. Matthew Tonts, Pro Vice-Chancellor/Executive Dean of Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Education of The University of Western Australia (UWA) visited Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW). Prof. Xia Lidong, Vice President of SDUW, met with the delegation. Relevant staff from Office of Teaching Affairs, the International Office, and School of Business attended the meetings. 

On behalf of SDUW, Prof. Xia extended a warm welcome to the guests. He reviewed the cooperation carried out between SDUW and UWA, and expressed his gratitude to Mr.Watt and Prof. Tonts for the care and support SDUW students received at UWA. He also expressed his wish that the two universities could focus on joint scientific research and teaching staff exchanges in the next stage based on the ongoing cooperation.

In response, Mr. Watt spoke highly of the academic performances of SDUW students studying at UWA, and said that UWA is sending more outstanding teaching staff to SDUW to further improve the teaching quality and learning outcomes. Prof.Tonts said that UWA would lend full support to the joint education programs with SDUW, and wish that more joint research programs could be carried out between the two sides.

The Management Committee meeting for the MOE Finance Program was held during the visit. The attendees have discussed and settled down details regarding student recruitment, course introduction,staff exchange as well as student scholarship application.  

During the visit, the delegation met with students enrolled in the MOE programs and answered their questions regarding life and study in Australia. In addition, Prof. Tonts delivered a lecture Global Network of Economy to the SDUW students.
