UNSW Canberra Delegation Visits SDUW

On May 28th, a delegation of Canberra Campus of The University of New South Wales (UNSW Canberra) led by Prof. Warrick Lawson, Head of School of Physical, Environmental and Mathematical Sciences, visited Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW). Prof. Huang Kainan, Vice President of SDUW, met with the guests. Relevant staff from Office of Discipline and Postgraduate Studies, and International Office attended the meeting. 

On behalf of SDUW, Prof. Huang extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He first introduced SDUW, and pointed out that SDUW, characterized by its feature of internationalization, is promoting its implementation of the Double Top University Plan. He also wished that the two universities could advance academic exchanges and research collaborations in featured disciplines of both sides.

Prof. Lawson made an introduction of UNSW Canberra, and emphasized that the university is more than happy to offer scholarships to outstanding SDUW postgraduate students enrolled by the university’s doctorate program. He also expressed his wish that the two universities could embark on a new form of cooperation initiating from this visit. During the meeting, both parties reached a preliminary cooperation intention initiation of joint doctorate education program, academic seminar, and research collaboration. 
Later, the delegation held a meeting with SDUW postgraduate students, during which the delegates introduced UNSW scholarship program for doctorate students and answered students’ questions in this regard.

During the stay, the delegation will held a meeting with relevant staff from School of Space Science and Physics, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Business, and School of Culture and Journalism respectively on May 29th and 30th.
