SUT Delegation Visits SDUW

      From December 14th to 16th, a delegation of Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) led by Prof. Geoff Brooks, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Future Manufacturing) and the Director of the “Joint Research Center in Advanced Manufacturing” (hereafter as the Center) on SUT side, visited Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW). On December 14th, Prof. Chen Guanjun, Vice President of SDUW, met with the guests. Relevant staff from School of Mechanical, Electrical and Information Engineering attended the activities.

     During the meeting, Prof. Chen pointed out that the joint training program for doctoral students implemented by SUT and SDUW had been initiated through constant efforts, and expressed his wish that the two parties could push forward the construction of the Center. Prof. Brooks said that SUT has attached great importance to the joint program as well as the Center, and it is selecting outstanding researchers in the area of manufacturing in order to build the Center to be a world-class research collaboration platform. 

     On December 15th, the delegation visited the Research Institute of Carbon Fiber  located in the Weihai International Port in the company of Prof. Jiang Baochen, Dean of School of Mechanical, Electrical and Information Engineering, after which they met with Mr. Yu Wenjiang, Party Committee Secretary of Weihai International Port Economic and Technical Development District. During the meeting, all parties exchanged opinions regarding the development of the Center.

    On December 16th, the delegation visited School of Material Science and Engineering, and School of Mechanical Engineering of Shandong University in Jinan, during which they discussed issues regarding joint training programs for doctoral students and research collaboration. During their stay, the delegation also held an interview for candidates applying for the joint training program for doctoral students.
