SDUW Delegation Visits UTAS and AEMG in Australia

From November 27th to December 1st, a delegation of Shandong University, Weihai(SDUW) led by Mr. Guo Peiliang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, visited the University of Tasmania (UTAS) and Australia Education Management Group (AEMG). Staff from School of Ocean Biology and the International Office accompanied Mr. Guo on his visit.

At UTAS, the delegation was received by Prof. Monique Skidmore, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Global, and Prof. Peter Coleman, Executive Director of IMAS and Pro Vice-Chancellor, Research Collaborations and Infrastructure. In the meeting, Mr.Guo spoke highly of UTAS’s research ability in the field of marine research and Antarctic study, and expressed his wish that UTAS and SDUW could further the cooperation by carrying on joint doctoral student programs, which would introduce more advanced marine technology into SDUW and contribute to the local economy.

Prof. Skidmore agreed with Mr.Guo on maintaining a long-term partnership and exchange of advanced educational and research resources. She emphasized that UTAS attached great importance to its internationalization, and wished to receive more talents from SDUW in the field of marine study.   

During the meeting, the two parties settled down details of the 3+2 bachelor-master package program. Later, the delegation visited the aquaculture center of UTAS.

During their stay in Australia, the delegation also met with Mr. Roger Li at the Melbourne brunch of AEMG. Mr.Guo expressed his gratitude for the constant help and support AEMG has given in promoting the exchange and communication between SDUW and universities in Australia. In response, Mr. Li spoke highly of the ongoing programs of SDUW and expressed his wish for a closer and longer partnership.

The delegation also visited the Advanced Manufacturing Center of Swinburne University of Technology to learn about details of 3D printing, composite materials, etc. during their stay.
