SDUW Delegation Visits Partner Universities in Australia

Mr. Yin Zuosheng, Secretary of Party Working Committee of Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW) visited Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) and The University of Western Australia (UWA) from July 25th to 28th, and attended the graduation ceremony of SDUW graduates studying at UWA. Staff from Students Affairs Office, International Office and School of Business accompanied Mr. Yin on his visit. 

At SUT, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Prof. Linda Kristjanson, Vice-Chancellor of SUT, Prof. Aleks Subic, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Alan Lau, Pro Vice-Chancellor. On behalf of SDUW, Mr. Yin expressed his thankfulness. He pointed out that Shandong University (SDU) has been making great efforts to promote the development of Shandong Province against the background of replacing old growth drivers with new ones. The establishment of the Joint Research Centre for Advanced Manufacturing reflects the great achievement made by SDUW and SUT, and it also witnesses the combination of industrial resources in Weihai and scientific research strength of SDU and STU. Mr. Yin said that with the advantages in education resources, university-enterprise cooperation and the help of experienced research experts, the collaboration of these two universities will definitely be successful.

Prof. Linda Kristjanson pointed out that SUT has maintained a close cooperation and exchange with experts at SDU on 3D printing, artificial intelligence and composite materials, and the Joint Research Centre is a remarkable achievement realized by substantial cooperation between SDU and SUT, which has attracted many local enterprises. She said that SUT will share more research resources and establish a long-term partnership with SDU. During the meeting, the two parties further discussed issues concerning joint doctorate education program, international conferences and scientific research projects.

At UWA, the delegation was received by Prof. David Sadler, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), and Prof. Kent Anderson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Community and Engagement). Mr. Yin said that the two parties have made remarkable achievements in joint education program, and the close cooperation with UWA will fundamentally promote the internationalization of SDUW. Mr. Yin expressed his gratitude to Prof. David Sadler and Prof. Kent Anderson for the care and support SDUW students received at UWA. Prof. David Sadler expressed his wish that the two parties could make continuing contributions to cultivate international talents.

During the visit, the delegation attended the graduation ceremony of joint educated students. Mr. Yin and Mr. Robert Shenton French AC, Chancellor of UWA awarded students in Finance and Accounting majors graduation diplomas.

During the stay, the delegation met with SDUW students studying at UWA and listened to their opinions and suggestions.
