SDUW Delegation Attends the 2018 Asia Research Center Seminar Held in South Korea

Prof. Liu Jianya, Vice President of Shandong University (SDU) and President of Shandong University, Weihai (SDUW), attended the 2018 Asia Research Center Seminar in South Korea from August 30th to September 2nd, during which he introduced the general information about Shandong Forum. Mr. Zhao Yupu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of SDUW, along with staff from the International Office, attended the Seminar.

Korea Foundation of Advanced Studies (KFAS), the organizer of this Seminar, invited nearly 30 universities from South Korea, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos, which have Asia Research Center or co-hosted the Seminar with KFAS, to attend the forum. Presidents and professors from prestigious universities in China including Peking University, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, SDU and Nankai University were present. The Seminar centered on research achievements made by Asia Research Centers and discussed the development plan in the future. On invitation of KFAS, Prof. Liu hosted part of the meeting, during which he introduced the information of the first Shandong Forum held in 2016 and the preparations of the  second Forum which will take place in October.

Initiated in 2015, Shandong Forum is an international high-level forum co-hosted by SDU and KFAS with the guidance and support of Provincial Government. The first Forum with the theme of East Asian Community of Common Destiny– Past, Present and Future was held in Jinan in October, 2016. The Second Forum will take place in Weihai from October 19th to 21st this year, and 100 delegates in the fields of education, business and politics from ten countries will be invited to the Forum. The preparatory works have gone well with the declaration work being completed and an agreement between SDUW and KFAS being signed.
